Incumbent is responsible for daily patient treatments & procedures in the linear accelerator, NOMOS, and simulator rooms of Radiation Oncology. Incumbent is responsible for the daily scheduling of patients to ensure an efficient use of the available time slots. Schedules and takes port films on all patients, reviews results with physicians, documents findings, and makes necessary corrections. Responsible for reviewing treatment plan, dosimetry and treatment chart before initial patient treatment. Responsible for the correct operation of radiation therapy equipment, automatic film processors and quality control equipment. Responsible for daily documentation of patient treatment. Responsible for accurate billing of patient. Responsible for notifying physician of any concerns in regard to patient condition during treatment course. Responsible for notifying physicist of any equipment problems in a timely manner. Maintains films and medical records, including purging of files. CaRries out and records orders as required by physician prescriptions

- Prepares equipment and supplies for procedures in an organized and timely manner. Appropriately assesses, controls, orders, and maintains supply inventory according to physician preferences and patient population. Performs appropriate disinfection procedures on patient treatment equipment. Keeps work area clean and uncluttered. 10%
- Effectively determines patient needs based on age-specific criteria. Effectively operates all radiation therapy equipment. Performs radiation therapy procedures such as simulation, basic monitor unit calculations, and patient treatment. Reviews treatment plan, dosimetry and patient setup notes before initial patient treatment. Sets treatment parameters in accordance with patient treatment plans / physician prescription. Positions patients according to simulation setup notes and dosimetry directions/requirements. Utilizes proper immobilization and treatment devices as required by physician prescription. Monitors patients during simulations and therapeutic procedures ensuring treatment accuracy and patient safety. Uses appropriate body mechanics when lifting, positioning and transporting patients and/or equipment. Takes photographs of each patient, their treatment positions and face photos. 65%
- Collaborates effectively with all members of the health care team. Coordinates in-patient transportation as needed to complete daily radiation treatments. Notifies physician of any concerns in regard to patient condition during treatment course. Verifies treatment levels or procedures against established guidelines. Reviews patient imaging results with physicians or other care providers in a timely manner. Participates in medical resident and student clinical education as necessary. 15%
- Accurately and appropriately performs daily quality control on equipment ensuring all appropriate records are kept as required, interprets data regarding patient status in consideration of patient age, and performs computer data entry of patient setup and treatment information in a timely manner. Records procedures to ensure correct billing, reviews procedure charges at the end of each day to ensure accuracy. Reviews patient treatment EMR on an ongoing basis to ensure weekly treatment management and changes in patient prescriptions and chart documentation are performed and documented accurately. Responsible for daily documentation of patient treatment in departmental EMR. 10%

Required Qualifications:
- Proven ability to safely and accurately operate radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, simulators and computers
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must possess ARRT/CRT in Radiation Therapy
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, anatomy and positioning
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to work “on-call” rotation
- Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to safely and accurately operate the radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, simulators and computers
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- A minimum of one year experience working as a Radiation Therapist
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Experience in computer informatics/networking associated with radiation oncology practices
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
