What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant III, Orthopaedic Surgery position at University of California - Los Angeles Health?
The Santa Monica Hospital is seeking to hire a full-time Medical Assistant III to join the Orthopaedic Surgery Department. You will provide clinical and technical support assisting the physicians in the provision of medical care to patients. Primary duties include:
- Interviewing patients, take vital signs, room patients for providers, and record services in patients' charts
- Updating and verifying patients' medical history
- Assisting in cast, braces, and splint application and removal
- Providing basic DME fitting, ultrasound, or other procedure set up and support
- Rooming and discharging of patients
- Appointment scheduling
Required to float to all UCLA Orthopaedic Surgery Clinics as needed.
Salary Range: $28.06/hr - $37.02
Valid Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA
BLS (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Ability to work with the physical demands of standing 80% of the day, lifting limbs of patients, and other clinical needs
Minimum 2-years of experience working in medical office
Prior experience working with Orthopaedic patients
Previous experience with cast/splinting (preferred)
Knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes for billing
Knowledge and ability to practice aseptic techniques when assisting with procedures and wound care
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
