What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Lab Assistant - Hematology/Oncology position at University of California - Los Angeles Health?
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator and Laboratory Manger, the Student Lab Assistant provides support to help with basic laboratory maintenance and provide supervised technical support to members of the research team. Laboratory duties include, but are not limited to assisting the Laboratory Manager with the maintenance of laboratory stocks, evaluating inventories of supplies and consumables, waste disposal, and autoclaving glassware and instruments. Additionally, the Student Lab Assistant will be trained to engage in supervised expansion and isolation of plasmids, molecular cloning, and maintenance of mouse and human cancer cell lines.
Salary Range: $17.30 - $25.00 Hourly
- Must be a registered UC student
- Basic knowledge of Molecular Biology required
- Well organized and highly dependable
- Highly motivated to learn new skills and techniques
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to approximately 50 pounds
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with campus departments and the public
Preferred:
- Basic laboratory skills including organization, preparing common lab reagents, pipetting, and working with human primary cancel cells experience preferred
