The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The full salary range for this position is $86,300 - 161,300. The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $110,000 - $126,000.
Job Closing Date

About the Job
The Director of Research Development oversees the Research Development unit and has direct working relationships with faculty in their pursuit of extramural research funding, specifically for large interdisciplinary proposals, Center proposals, and research and training proposals of high institutional importance. The position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development and Chief of Staff and manages the Research Development Office.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provides strategic input on the direction of the unit and proposal development support to campus.
- Manages a team of individuals who work with university faculty, graduate students, and administrators to develop and submit competitive grant proposals.
- Meets with Principal Investigator(s) to build effective teams and strategize regarding planning and timing for submitting large proposals.
- Develops and implements methods for identifying and communicating funding opportunities to faculty.
- Ensures efficient coordination between stakeholders and other university administrative offices.
- Manages limited submission selection processes through RD staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
