This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Within the Department of Medicine at UCSD, the Center for Aids Research (CFAR) promotes scientific and clinical studies in HIV and fosters researchers using innovative strategies to advance our research priorities of preventing new infections, optimizing HIV care, and developing a cure while promoting health equity for people with and at risk for HIV. The overall objective of the San Diego CFAR is to have a meaningful impact on HIV research by fostering our local HIV researchers using innovative and efficient strategies. We do so through the following activities :

  • Basic research in the areas of molecular pathogenesis and immunopathogenesis.
  • Utilization of insights from basic research to develop pre-clinical and clinical trials of therapies and vaccines.
  • Furthering clinical research to address fundamental scientific and practical medical issues.
  • Providing leadership and serving as a regional resource to coordinate, stimulate and cross-fertilize all of the above to foster synergism, economies of scale and novel and creative approaches.

As one of the five national IS hubs for the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative, the SD CFAR Implementation Science Hub provides technical assistance through coaching, group-based mentorship, training, and review to CFAR investigators, EHE awardees, health department officials, community stakeholders, and other HIV implementation science investigators.

Specific areas of expertise of our IS Hub include :

  • Application of IS frameworks (e.g., EPIS, RE-AIM, PRISM).
  • Designing, adapting and implementing multi-site studies of complex, multi-level HIV interventions especially with paraprofessionals.
  • Mixed-methods approaches to understand impacts of programs and policy reforms in HIV.
  • Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of IS Hub activities related to providing ongoing consultation for up to 10 EHE projects assigned to our group. Activities include coordinating and developing materials for webinars and / or cross-hub coaching sessions on specialized topics; coordinating IS Hub coaching meetings with EHE project teams and internal coaches; coordinating our grant renewal application; developing evaluation materials and online programming, analysis and reporting of evaluation results; and coordination of other related tasks. This position will also be responsible for coordinating training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students as well as early career professionals. The Program Coordinator will oversee the implementation of mHealth messaging as part of a longitudinal, multi-level, mixed methods hybrid type 3 effectiveness-implementation SMART trial designed to assess the sustained impact of a co-created multicomponent strategy on completion of preventive health behaviors. In addition, this position will support a Theory of Change process to be completed with community and academic partners across the state of California including training and supervising interns and students in various data collection methods.

    Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 11 years of related experience, education / training, OR a Master's degree in a related area plus five years of related experience / training.
  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Strong policy analysis techniques.
  • Working theoretical knowledge of Public Health and / or Social and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Experience coordinating Dissemination and Implementation Science projects.
  • Experience with grant and manuscript preparation.
  • Demonstrated experience with observational data collection methods.
  • Experience with training, teaching, and overseeing staff and students in a public health research setting.
  • Extensive computer experience including expertise with all Microsoft Office programs as well as experience programming REDCap surveys and projects.
  • Experienced in qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis.
  • Experience coordinating multi-site, multi-disciplinary research studies.
  • Experience in coordinating webinars with advanced knowledge of using Zoom.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule, outside of standard working hours. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Coordinate / participate in calls outside of normal working hours / multiple time zones, as needed.

    Annual Full Pay Range : $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

    Hourly Equivalent : $33.29 - $59.15
