Job Summary
The Clinical Informatics Supervisor provides leadership and guidance to a team of analysts responsible for data discovery, reporting, and analytics within the EPIC Clarity framework. This role oversees team operations, ensuring adherence to best practices, documentation standards, and operational efficiency. The Supervisor will collaborate with the CDRC Manager to assign and prioritize work, manage resources, and maintain a high standard of deliverables that meet organizational goals.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $225,900 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
UCSF offers comprehensive data extraction services for our researchers, specializing in extracting invaluable information from electronic medical records at UCSF, Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, and the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) health clinics and hospitals. The Clinical Data Research Consultants are part of UCSF Information Technology's Academic Research Services Program. Our dedicated team of experts supports groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in healthcare by providing secure and compliant access to critical patient information. We work closely with UCSF researchers to empower them to unlock the full potential of medical data.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
- Certification in EPIC CLARITY and/or other EPIC modules with a requirement to maintain certifications as current
- 5 years of relevant progressive experience
- Proven experience as an EPIC Clarity Analyst with a track record of leading or mentoring teams
- Strong knowledge of SQL, EPIC Clarity database structure, and data extraction processes.
- Strong knowledge of clinical informatics analytics, controlled terminology, clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management on operational and policy issues, with the skills to gather data, and prepare and present proposals and reports on department functions and performance
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, coordinate, and prioritize the activities of subordinate staff, and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with clinical informatics.
- .Advanced interpersonal skills and persuasiveness, with the ability to collaborate with clinical, technical, and business personnel to promote effective integration of patient care, clinical information systems, and business management functions.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear, concise, and specific manner to subordinate staff, management, and all clinical informatics users.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to monitor, evaluate, and document personnel matters and performance and contribute to decision making on personnel actions.
License/Certification
- Certification in EPIC CLARITY and/or other EPIC modules with a requirement to maintain certifications as current
