Job Summary

UCSF is one of the top 5 medical schools in the country and the Bridges curriculum provides our medical students a unique opportunity to engage in one-on-one coaching with a faculty mentor, participate in team-based learning, incorporate reflection and wellness into the curriculum, and learn through assessment.
Under the direction of the Manager of the Foundations 2 and Career Launch Curriculum, the curriculum coordinator will work closely with the program directors to coordinate the Introduction to Career Launch course, Coda course, and longitudinal preceptorship experiences called SPAN for UCSF medical students completing the Career Launch phase of the curriculum.

The curriculum coordinator will coordinate all aspects of these educational experiences, including:

  • Identify clinical preceptors, collect student preferences, and match students to preceptors
  • Serve as first point of contact for faculty and other staff to answer questions about the courses and programs
  • Communicate course and program expectations to students and answer student questions
  • Create course and program materials such as calendar and assignments, and provide support to teaching faculty during sessions
  • Address any student or faculty issues related to courses and preceptorships and discuss solutions with Manager and Faculty Directors
  • Utilize technology to manage course and program logistics and to track student completion of activities and requirements
  • Assign student assessments and faculty and program evaluations in evaluation system and monitor evaluation compliance
  • Provide ongoing programmatic support to Faculty Directors: schedule meetings, draft program materials, and share information about medical education and the Bridges curriculum

Career Launch is the final, highly individualized phase of the Bridges Curriculum, lasting 61 weeks. It includes dedicated time for students to complete scholarly projects while they pursue advanced clinical training that prepare them for their chosen career paths. Career Launch starts with an introductory course, Introduction to Career Launch, to prepare students for advanced clinical coursework, and concludes with a clinical Capstone course, Coda, that prepares students to successfully start their residency programs.

About Introduction to Career Launch Course
Introduction to Career Launch is a four-week course designed to help students transition to advanced clinical rotations. Sessions are focused on roles and responsibilities, communication skills, interprofessional teams, and strategies and skill development for success in ambulatory, in-patient, and acute care settings.

About Coda Course
Coda is a three-week course that concludes the Bridges curriculum and prepares students for their transition to residency. Coda's main purpose is to summarize and review the most important clinical information necessary for internship. There is a specialty-specific component of the course, which offers a more tailored approach to internship preparation.

About SPAN
SPAN (Specialty Practice Ambulatory Sub-iNternship) is a longitudinal program in which students are paired with a clinical preceptor for 16 half-day sessions over the course of Career Launch, with the goal of entering residency prepared for outpatient clinical practice. In this program, students develop advanced ambulatory skills, build on experience gained in previous Bridges longitudinal programs, and develop longitudinal coaching/mentoring relationships.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
