Job Summary
NAVIGATE is a Prostate Cancer Foundation-funded study that develops and tests an intervention for Black individuals with prostate cancer. The main goal of NAVIGATE is to help Black individuals and communities with advanced prostate cancer learn about "germline testing". Germline testing is a type of genetic test that finds genetic changes that have been passed down in families. Germline testing can change cancer treatment for individuals with prostate cancer, and also inform the risk of cancer in individuals and their families. The intervention pairs an artificial intelligence chatbot with a health coach.
We are seeking two Health Coaches who will play a key role in engaging and educating patients about germline testing. Health coaches will be paired with patients to deliver tailored educational materials, answer questions, and interact with the chatbot. They will build a relationship with the patient, maximize cultural sensitivity and connection, and assist with any technical/smartphone/Zoom difficulties.
Coaches will also participate in meetings with the research team to develop a recruitment plan, recruit participants, and provide feedback to refine the intervention.
To accomplish the above activities, coaches will be trained to become familiar with germline testing and be able to answer questions about them, trained in using the chatbot, and trained in coaching patients.
