Job Summary
Responsible for supervision of operations for the medical staff offices of UCSF Health Saint Francis and St. Mary's Hospitals. Implements credentialing and privileging function, processes, and monitors assigned staff compliance. Assists the Director in recruiting, selecting, and developing new/existing talent to support credentialing, privileging, and governance in a high-volume, fast-paced community hospital environment. Manages the team in appropriate application processing of new and existing providers, and ongoing competency review processes for providers who render patient care at UCSF Health Saint Francis and St. Mary's Hospitals and clinics. Manages monthly approval process and appropriate follow-up of recommendations & approvals through regularly held committee review bodies. Applies functional knowledge and development of medical staff credentialing and privileging standards/policies and operations to advise and collaborate with UCSF Health Saint Francis and St. Mary's leadership in accomplishing strategic initiatives.
Please Note: For all external new hires who have not worked for a UC in the last 12 months, we are offering a sign-on bonus. The bonus is payable after 30 days of continuous employment. In addition, for all individuals who wish to relocate, we are also offering a relocation bonus.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. The annual salary range for this position is $78,900-$167,300. Department Description
The Office of Medical Affairs and Governance provides credentialing services for the UCSF Health System and is also responsible for privileging, governance and health plan enrollment for the Health System, including the Community Hospitals division (UCSF Health St. Mary's and UCSF Health Saint. Francis Hospitals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or four years of equivalent exp.
- Four (4) or more years of relevant work experience in a similar environment at a similar level (i.e. leader, manager, supervisory role).
- Proven ability to apply external regulatory guidelines; internal purchasing, accounting, and administrative policies. Knowledge and skills to implement compliant programs and analyze effectiveness. Knowledge of HR and UC policies and processes.
- Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Effective communicator with peers, clinical staff, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the performance of all aspects of credentialing activities.
- Solid organizational skills applied toward improving the credentialing processes.
- Knowledge of current credentialing software and demonstrated ability to teach others.
- Demonstrated leadership skills. Motivates and inspires staff to improve the credential organization.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Skills to interact with a diverse population of internal staff, physicians and administrators, external agencies and physicians' offices.
- Ability to Identify and utilize resources to resolve problems with tact, diplomacy and confidentiality. Skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify solutions through critical thinking process.
- The ability to work on-site a min. of four days a week in San Francisco.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in working in a medical staff office of a community hospital.
License/Certification
- Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification is preferred and required within 24 months of hire.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification is preferred and required within 18 months of hire, if candidate does not hold CPMSM certification.
