Job Summary

The Regional Cancer Services NP provides care in a multi-specialty. UCSF Cancer Center San Mateo.

As an offsite/off-license facility, the responsibilities placed upon APPs escalate in complexity due to the remote nature of clinical staffing and patient care. The Nurse Practitioner's responsibilities include performing bone marrow biopsies, patient triage, critical value reception, and covering orders and time-specific requests. The NP will have 32 independent patient encounters per week.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $99.15 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90 cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center we are truly pioneering care and leaders in all areas of cancer clinical care and research. Required Qualifications

NP I

  • Minimum two (2) years RN experience in an inpatient and/or outpatient adult oncology program.
  • Bone marrow biopsy aspiration training.
  • Demonstrated competence in the following areas: clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, and problem identification/resolution.
  • Flexibility to orient and work at multiple Ambulatory/Outpatient UCSF Cancer Center locations - Burlingame, San Mateo, and Redwood City.
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined.

NP 2
  • A minimum of two (2) years NP experience in an inpatient and/or outpatient adult oncology program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multilingual, Spanish or Cantonese
  • Clinical database entry experience

License/Certification

  • California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

  • Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license with schedules 2-5 to a California address and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • Curent AHA ACLS.
  • .State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
  • Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
