Job Summary
The NP provides clinical guidance for patients receiving systemic therapy for thoracic malignancies including management of treatment toxicities, management of oncologic emergencies, symptom management, care coordination, assistance with triage, and other duties as assigned.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $95.69 - $124.10 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) year of recent related medical oncology Nurse Practitioner experience or completion of a comprehensive oncology APP fellowship program
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of NP experience in an outpatient solid tumor medical oncology program
- Experience working with clinical trial protocols
- Experience working at an academic medical center
- AOCNP Certification
License/Certification
- California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- Accepted Certifications for this position: AGNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, AGACNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, ACNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, GNP-C, GNP-BC or ACNPC Link to UCSF NP Certification Table for reference: Acceptable NP Board Certifications Checklist 2.23.24.docx
- Hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
