Job Summary
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Neurology Program seeks a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to help support our program. The UCSF team consists of highly experiences physicians, surgeons, nurses, social workers, researchers, and others. Our Neurology program is nationally known for cutting edge Neurology support in both the outpatient and inpatient setting and offers a variety of support systems (long-term and short-term).
The APP will care for patients on the inpatient Neurology services at UCSF Health. The assignment will be to either the Neurohospitalist or Neurovascular service. Specific duties will include rounding with the inpatient team, answering pages from nurses, writing orders, writing notes (occasionally), evaluation and management of patients, and coordinating discharges. Outpatient duties will include responding to follow up phone calls from recently discharged patients when a clinician's response is required, and clinic visits. This job will provide opportunities to gain skills in evaluating neurological patients, performing a neurological examination, and managing neurological conditions.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $131.30 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
NP 1
- Two (2) years of recent RN experience with inpatient Neuro population
- Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position
- Flexibility to orient and work varying schedules as outlined (days/weekends/holidays/rotations)
NP 2
- One (1 )year of recent adult Neuro inpatient and/or outpatient care experience as a nurse practitioner or completion of an NP acute care fellowship that included Neurology training
- Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position
- Flexibility to orient and work varying schedules as outlined
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in neuro ICU or managing complex neuro patients
- NP experience in a high-volume academic center
- Emergency Neurological Life Support Certification (ENLS)
License/Certification
- California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- Accepted Certifications for this position: ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC, A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC.

- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
