Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner will serve as a high-level professional whose activities will span the interface between the physicians and nurses who manage the Oncology program at Benioff Children's Hospital, San Francisco. The Nurse Practitioner will act as an independent member of the team, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient pediatric oncology patients in addition to some ambulatory responsibilities for patient care follow-up. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Division Chief, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $95.73 - $124.22 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
NP 1
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience working in Pediatric BMT or Pediatric Oncology as a nurse
- Master's degree in nursing with a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialization
NP 2
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience working in Pediatric BMT or Pediatric Oncology as a Nurse Practitioner
- Possesses the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position
- Master's degree in nursing with a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialization
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) or Oncology
- Bilingual proficiency
License/Certification
- California Driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work

- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
