Job Summary
The Per Diem Occupational Therapist reports to the Clinical Supervisor/Assistant Director and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Per Diem O.T. works primarily with pediatric patients while also working with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Per Diem O.T. with specific pediatric competencies may also work with infants and with pediatric patients with dysphagia needs. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Per Diem O.T. plans and administers a full range of occupational therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities. Services include patient evaluations using various physical, cognitive and visual/perceptual tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing occupational therapy techniques. The Per Diem Occupational Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Per Diem O.T. may also supervise support personnel including Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.
- CPR certification from AHA
- Minimum of one year of patient care experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to recognize signs of distress.
- Basic computer skills in word processing and on line communication.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior occupational therapy experience in an academic medical center environment.
- Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team.
- Possession of a degree or certificate in Occupational Therapy from an approved school.
License/Certification
- Licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.
- CPR certification
