This position is the Program Coordinator for the Black Womxn's Health & Livelihood Initiative (BWHLI) and the
Black Wellness Center, which is the community space for the Black Womxn's Health & Livelihood Initiative. This
is a shared position between the Black Womxn's Health & Livelihood Initiative and the Office of Diversity &
Outreach with a goal of fostering and cultivating wellness for the Black community at UCSF including staff,
trainees, faculty, students, patients, and community members.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of the National Center of Excellence in Women's Health/Co-Director
of the Black Womxn's Health & Livelihood Initiative this position will staff the Black Wellness Center to welcome
visitors including patients, community members, UCSF employees, and trainees. This position is responsible for
operational duties such as planning and implementing wellness and educational events both on-site in the Black
Wellness Center and virtually and collaborating with campus and community organizations on wellness events
and activities cultivated for the Black community. This position will be responsible for all BWHLI event
coordination including logistic, working with various community members and vendors, creating and managing
timelines and workplans, outreach, and communication.
The successful candidate must have proven and exceptional event and project management skills and the ability
to manage and balance numerous deadlines shifting priorities and a variety of competing stakeholders with
professionalism and poise. It is critical for this person to be passionate about community based wellness and
have demonstrated experience with working in a fast paced ever changing environments especially in the events
and facilities space while executing on the highest level of customer service.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $55,700 - $118,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (Ob, Gyn & RS) is a major academic
Department in the School of Medicine, engaged in clinical, research, and training activities at the Parnassus,
Mount Zion, and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital campuses, the new Betty Irene Moore Women's
Hospital at Mission Bay, as well as satellite locations throughout the Bay Area, with an annual operating budget
of $149 million. The Department has 100 full-time faculty, 117 other academic appointments, 13 post-doctoral
fellows, 20 clinical fellows, 32 residents, 138 voluntary clinical faculty, and 270 staff.
The UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health (NCoE) utilizes a model of integrated and innovative
research, clinical care, professional training, leadership development, and community engagement. Our mission
is to advance the health and well-being of women and girls from diverse communities in the San Francisco Bay
Area.
The NcoE's Black Womxn's Health & Livelihood Initiative (BWHLI) addresses the root causes of health disparities
for Black Women to achieve wellness and empowerment across the lifespan. BWHLI goals are achieved through
six key areas: health & well-being, community building, education, leadership, and construction of knowledge &
research. The Black Wellness Center, launched in June 2022 is located in the Women's Health Center at Mount
Zion. The Black Wellness Center is a space designed to support the building of community, morale, and pride
among Black community members, patients, staff, providers, trainees, and students at UCSF.
The Office of Diversity and Outreach (ODO) serves as the campus and health system leader in building diversity
in all aspects of the UC San Francisco mission through ongoing assessment, development of new programs and
building consensus. The mission of the ODO is to build a broadly diverse faculty, student, trainee and staff
community to nurture a culture that is welcoming and supportive and to engage diverse ideas for the provision
of culturally competent education, discovery and patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field such as health education, community engagement and/or
- equivalent experience/training
- Minimum 1 years directly relevant experience required
- Six months or more experience working with Black patient population or equivalent training related to specific population
- Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production
- and public relations
- Working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing
- multiple details. Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar
- management and student and / or volunteer scheduling
- Good interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively
- representing the campus, medical center or other university organization to its publics.
- Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill
- to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas,
- including skill to determine the issues / problems that need to be brought to the attention
- of higher level staff and / or management
- Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty,
- general public, production personnel, technical operators and performing artists
- Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines ensuring excellent
- customer service support
- Ability to work in independently in a fast-pasted, demanding environment with minimal
- supervision
- Demonstrated interest in addressing health, racial, and gender equity, and anti-racism
- Demonstrates ability to use sound judgement in responding to issues and concerns
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to produce quality and

- Demonstrates good judgement in making decisions and managing events. Skills in effectively meeting budget and time constraints
