The UCSF School of Medicine's Department of Medicine and Department of Pediatrics are seeking a distinguished individual to serve as the next Director of the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship Program. This prestigious program is a joint effort between the two departments. Appointment will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank of the Clinical X or Health Sciences (HS) Clinical series. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.
Program Overview
The UCSF Allergy and Immunology Fellowship Program has a renowned history of training exceptional clinicians and academicians in the field. It is well-regarded for its comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of allergic and immunologic diseases and offers a diverse clinical experience for fellows, covering both pediatric and adult patients. Starting in July 2025, the program will offer formalized tracks in pediatric or adult Allergy and Immunology. Fellows will have the opportunity to engage in innovative research initiatives, contributing to advancements in the field.
Position Responsibilities
The Fellowship Program Director will oversee all aspects of the training program, including recruitment, clinical training, mentorship, and career development of the fellows. Key responsibilities include :
- Overseeing the recruitment of fellows through a holistic review process to attract outstanding trainees from diverse backgrounds.
- Ensuring exceptional clinical rotation experiences and holding faculty accountable for delivering high-quality training.
- Leading the assessment and evaluation process for fellows, ensuring they achieve clinical milestones and receive timely, constructive feedback.
- Overseeing mentoring and career advising for fellows, ensuring adequate support for their clinical and academic goals.
- Developing strategies for continuous improvement and innovation within the fellowship program to meet community and national workforce needs.
- Representing the fellowship program at local, regional, and national levels.
The Program Director will work with Associate Program Directors from both the adult and pediatric tracks, a Program Coordinator, and the Education Chairs of the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics. The position includes 15% FTE support.
