Goga Lab - Assistant Professional Researcher
Cell & Tissue Biology
UC San Francisco
Contribute to new and ongoing projects focusing on cancer heterogeneity, metabolism, immunology, and metastasis. Provide training and technical support to the research group of post-docs and scientists, as well as collect and analyze data and assist in preparing presentations and manuscripts, and grant applications. Identify important questions and discover new pathways for cancer mechanisms and therapies, including writing proposals to support new areas of inquiry. Collaborate with other lab members to support lab management efforts including: prepare and update research protocols for review and approval.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD (or its equivalent) required in genetics, cancer biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or relevant field and postdoctoral experience following completion of the PhD (or its equivalent), utilizing techniques or methods in cancer biology, metabolism, and genetics;
- Basic knowledge of laboratory practices and safety;
- General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact productively with lab and campus personnel;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work under deadlines with general guidance;
- Excellent organizational and planning skills to accurately complete detailed work; and
- Team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with animal models of cancer will be highly valued and preferred
- Experience with studies of metastasis will be highly valued and preferred
- Experience with studies of metabolism will be highly valued and preferred
- Experience with studies of immune therapies will be highly valued and preferred
