Position description

We are a molecular biology laboratory (www.hsiunglab.org) innovating at the forefront of CRISPR synthetic biology, gene regulation, functional genomics, and tissue biology. Some questions/challenges we are interested in include: 1. How do we engineer cells to turn genes on or off? 2. How do we explore numerous combinations of genetic perturbations in a scalable way? 3. How do we engineer immune recognition of cancer or tissue regeneration? We are looking for individuals who are interested in a primarily wet lab research role working on some of the above themes. Responsibilities may include: cloning, cell culture, working with mice, processing tissue samples, analysis of nucleic acids and/or proteins, scientific writing, organization of data appropriate to role in the lab, record keeping & data entry, contributing to laboratory organization, maintenance, and inventory management. The responsibilities and expected scientific independence for this position will be determined by the candidate's abilities, with exceptional candidates given more independence in leading projects. If interested, successful candidates will receive mentorship on career paths, such as MD or PhD training.

Required qualifications:
* Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related fields or at least four years of research experience (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment, social science research methods, or creative activities).
* Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a master's degree or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience.
* Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
* Specialists appointed at the full rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.

Preferred qualifications:
* Prior experience in molecular biology laboratory preferred.
