What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Communications Manager position at University of California San Francisco?
- Creates, develops, and implements long and short term strategic communications plans and / or projects for Healthforce Center, including two of Healthforce’s largest programs – the California Improvement Network (CIN) and Policy at Healthforce – and other programs administered by Healthforce; this includes content creation for and management of Healthforce’s websites, newsletters, social media, and other established to be communications channels.
- Writes and edits content that promotes Healthforce’s point of view in the marketplace and communicates Healthforce’s contributions to health care capacity building and workforce research; writes and edits content that deepens engagement and spreads ideas and knowledge for CIN, and other programs as needed.
- Supports publication and dissemination of Healthforce products and research.
- Produces high quality products (newsletters, blogs, publications, website content, social media posts, etc.) that effectively deliver the desired message and achieve intended goals within budget and time constraints
- Creates coordinated organization-wide and project/program-based marketing communications collateral.
- Establishes and manages processes and policies to streamline and standardize communications functions of department
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $79,000 - $127,200 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Excellent program management skills; ability to work with multiple stakeholders to advance and complete multiple projects and priorities
- Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
- Knowledge and understanding of technical applications (e.g., drupal, constant contact) to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
- Experience with and/or interest in Healthforce’s content areas (e.g. health care, health policy, health workforce, leadership development)
- Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans
- Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and / or broad general audiences.
- Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
- Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Familiarity with Constant Contact, Drupal, Wordpress, Photoshop, Canva, and other platforms/software necessary to carry out the duties of this role.
- Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in health care.
