Job Summary

The Program Manager for Student Success in the Graduate Division will work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean for Diversity and Learner Success in the design, implementation, and evaluation of student success programs in support of retaining learners ensuring holistic success and well-being once they arrive at UCSF. This position will enable the establishment and continuation of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) programs, including Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) T32, and the UCSF Advanced Research Careers (ARC) HUB. The incumbent will be a strategic partner to the Assistant Dean for Diversity and Learner Success, Diversity and Outreach Program Manager, and Diversity Programs and Assessment Specialist, and play a critical role in the development of new programs and initiatives and serve as a leader in student mentorship and advising.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $143,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Graduate Division functions as the institutional home for graduate education and postdoctoral scholarship at UCSF, serves as the primary advocate for graduate students and postdocs, and strives to promote excellence in all graduate and postdoc training programs. The Graduate Division enhances access, representation, and the educational experience of underrepresented students, and develops and implements institutional initiatives to expand the pool of qualified applicants to the graduate programs and postdoctoral positions, playing a crucial role in UCSF's plan to diversify the campus community as a whole.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Five (5) or more years of directly related work experience (Post BA / BS)
  • Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations
  • Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements
  • Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements
  • Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing programming for higher education learners, ideally with a specific focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related area
  • Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences
  • Advanced knowledge of complex visa and immigration policies, procedures and regulatory requirements for international students and scholars
  • Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuasion, leadership

  • In-depth knowledge of the field's post-degree employment opportunities and practices
  • Experience with community building and conflict resolution techniques, such as restorative justice practices
