Position description

Academic Cardiologist, SFVAHCS/UCSF Cardiology Division

The San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) are seeking applications for academic cardiologist positions at the Cardiology Division of the SFVAHCS. The SFVAHCS Cardiology Division is one of 3 sites within the UCSF Cardiology program.

The SFVAHCS Cardiology Division is undergoing expansion of its clinical and research programs, and is seeking non-invasive and invasive academic cardiologists to join its ranks. The Division enjoys a long tradition of distinction in clinical care, education and scholastic pursuits. Applicants will have demonstrated clinical excellence in their areas of specialization, along with aptitude for scholarship in clinical, teaching or research domains aligned with the academic mission of the Division and the University.

The successful candidate will be appointed in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at UCSF and report directly to the Division Chief of Cardiology at SFVAHCS.

Qualified applicants will have an MD or equivalent, current medical license, and be board certified or board eligible in Cardiovascular Diseases. The candidate will be suitable for academic appointment at UCSF at the level of Assistant Professor of Medicine or higher.

For positions that are 50% effort or more:
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $127,000-$333,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

For positions that are 49% effort or less:
See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $90,700-$238,300.

For positions exclusively/ partially funded by the affiliate organization:
*This position may be funded exclusively/partially by the SFVAHCS. See Veterans Affairs website for salary information. VA salary range for non-interventional Cardiology is $305,000 - $360,000 and interventional Cardiology is $345,000 - $395,000.
