What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unit Director, Neuroscience ICU position at University of California San Francisco?
The Unit Director supervises two critical care areas : the 8ICU Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit, which has 8 beds, and the 11NICU Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, which has 16 beds, with an annual budget of $20 million and 105 FTE. The units are managed as one staff with the same patient populations served. UCSF is designated a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and the Unit Director has direct and indirect responsibilities to ensure a high level of care and regulatory compliance to maintain this designation.
Designs and oversees nursing and administrative operations in large and / or multiple patient care areas. Accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of staffing, fiscal, and material resources. Assists with the development and implementation of multiple high-level quality and safety improvement initiatives and policy updates.
Involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes an environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students, and others.
