The laboratory of Dr. Joan-Emma Shea in the Chemistry department at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a full-time Assistant Project Scientist. The position involves a computational investigation of peptide and peptoid assembly, with a focus on aggregation, liquid-liquid phase separation, and hydrogel formation. Responsibilities include designing and performing molecular dynamics simulations (atomistic and coarse-grained), interacting with experimental groups, and supervising undergraduate students. The appointee will be expected to make significant conceptual contributions to the project.

A doctorate degree in chemistry, physics, or related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral experience.
A very solid research and publication record. The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Atomistic simulations of peptoids and intrinsically disordered proteins
- Coarse-grained simulations of the aggregation of intrinsically disordered proteins
- Simulations of hydrogels
- Characterization of mechanical properties of hydrogels
- Experience developing force fields for peptoids
- Working with experimental groups
