The Science Communication Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach various graduate and undergraduate-level courses. Course topics include science newswriting and editing, feature writing and editing, profile and essay writing, multimedia storytelling, and investigative and policy reporting. We seek applications from practicing journalists and science writers to teach graduate students the art and craft of science writing at a national, professional level. Lecturers will be expected to edit and guide student work to a professional standard, as well as inspire and promote student professional development. Ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Applicants with experience in public outreach are strongly encouraged to apply.
The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties.
