Responsibilities
The Comprehensive Ophthalmology position is a staff physician role within the Department of Ophthalmology at UCI Health. The primary clinical site will be at our Yorba Linda satellite, with some coverage at Irvine and Orange facilities. This position focuses on the delivery of eye care, with the referral of cases to tertiary care subspecialty ophthalmologists as appropriate.
The role includes primary management of ophthalmic diseases such as anterior segment, ocular surface, medical glaucoma, and retinal screening. This position allows practitioners to build long-term relationships with patients in their ongoing eye health care. Surgical procedures within the Comprehensive Ophthalmologist's expertise and competency are allowed but not required. Ideal candidates will provide excellent patient care, ensuring quality outcomes and satisfaction. We seek candidates who have a passion for outpatient medicine and are committed to the mission of the University of California, Irvine Gavin Herbert Eye Institute. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to partner with the full-time faculty of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute.
Job Requirements :
- Comprehensive Ophthalmologist; board-certified, providing full scope of comprehensive ophthalmology services including diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye diseases and conditions.
- Interpersonal skills : ability to motivate, inspire, and communicate with faculty, fellows, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team-based approach in patient care.
- Demonstrated professional competence, integrity, and ethical conduct of practice.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, bedside manner, and organizational skills.
- Patient-focused and committed to providing outstanding and compassionate care and service to all patients.
- A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven health system.
- Strong computer skills and EMR knowledge.
- Medical Degree from an Accredited University.
- Completion of an accredited residency training program.
- Ability to obtain a California license.
- Board Certification or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology.
- Active DEA license and BLS and ACLS certification.
- Experience in providing and / or oversight of comprehensive ophthalmology.
