Job Summary
The Lead Patient Support Assistant will support the directives of the Hospitality Services Supervisor and provide the Supervisor with related feedback in regard to the staff's work performance and the daily departmental operations. The Lead in conjunction with the Supervisor will assist Patient Support Assistants so that the patient rooms are cleaned and patient ready in an efficient manner and in accordance to departmental procedures. The Lead will generate the BTO Board as needed and support OR and custodian staff also. At the beginning of each shift, it is the responsibility of the Lead to inspect the discharged rooms, and Bio-Hazard rooms, to ensure areas are patient and staff ready, according to the hospitality services and cleaning procedures. The Lead will also participate in the cleaning and turnover of the discharged rooms according to the Hospitality cleaning procedures.
It is also essential to complete the training for Medications and Auxiliary Staff Competency.
The Lead is responsible to ensure that the (PSA's) daily cleaning assignments are covered. The lead also is responsible to retrieve the Hospitality telephone messages, check the sick book , and, when necessary call in staff to fill in for absent employees in accordance with the Hospitality call-in procedure.
The Leaddoes not have full authority in administering disciplinary action, this position does carry the responsibility to report to the Hospitality Supervisor or to the department manager, problems created by poor work performance of an employee, or by his / her failure to follow departmental policies or regulations. Also the Lead is required to some extent to make independent decisions when the supervisor and / or manager are off duty.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $37.74 - $47.11 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- High School graduate, GED and / or equivalents.
- Minimum of 2 year of satisfactory work experience in the cleaning of hospital surgical rooms.
- Ability to organize and prioritize the daily work load
- Good arithmetic skills
- Demonstrates excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills
