    About the opportunity :

    At the Centre for Applied Water Science (CAWS), there is an opening for a dedicated professional with a strong background in laboratory processes, chemical analysis, and quality assurance to work as part of a small team of urban water scientists.

    Our research focuses on understanding the impacts of urban developments on aquatic ecosystems throughout the development cycle. We aim to identify development practices and water sensitive urban design (WSUD) infrastructure types that provide the greatest ecological benefits. Chemical analysis of water and sediment samples is a crucial part of this work.

    Key Responsibilities :

  • Engage in a variety of externally funded research projects, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Perform detailed chemical analyses, including method development, to support research objectives.
  • Conduct laboratory analyses, chemical analyses, and sample collection to gather essential data.
  • Analyse data meticulously and contribute to the writing of comprehensive reports and scientific publications.
  • Requirements :

  • A PhD in a related discipline such as Chemistry or Freshwater Ecology.
  • Experience in chemical analysis including method development and quality assurance.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills.
  • Ability to undertake fieldwork.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A driver licence is required for this role.
