The Benefits Specialist coordinates and manages the employee benefits program. This role is instrumental in evaluating, administering, and enhancing UCM’s benefits program while ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Serve as the subject matter expert for institutional employee bene?t programs: 100�minister employee benefits programs, including life, disability, health insurance, retirement, personal savings, and deferred compensation programs.Advise and inform employees of changes and developments related to benefits, including eligibility, coverage, and provisions. Act as UCM liaison between bene?t vendors and employees to aid in resolving claims issues and any other bene?t concerns.Audit employee bene?t enrollment documentation to ensure UCM compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. In collaboration with the AVP-HR, participate in the health and wellness plan design and communication strategies to achieve a competitive advantage with UCM o?ered bene?t plans.Complete system entries to ensure accurate enrollment and reporting for bene?t eligible employees.Complete setup of employee bene?t plans in the HRIS (Banner) to ensure appropriate options are available for employee enrollment.Conduct employee bene?t orientation as part of semi-monthly new employee orientations and other employee information sessions throughout the year.Draft guides/policies/procedures/proposals/correspondence related to Benefits. Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in benefits administration. Perform employee contribution calculations to ensure correct and accurate contribution amounts.Perform employee enrollment activities in various health, wellness, and retirement plans, including MOSERS, CURP, and other TSA o?erings.Prepare1095-Cstatements for all eligible employees on an annual basis. Respond to survey and census requests by investigating areas and completing the responses as appropriate.Train employees and other professionals in the application of university bene?t provisions.Work with the O?ce of Technology to test system con?guration and reports as part of the troubleshooting process.Perform other related duties as assigned.
