Description
This position exists primarily to advise and consult with prospective, new, continuing and transfer undergraduate and graduate students, parents and other individuals who contact the office in person, by telephone or by email with questions regarding any aspect of the University's financial aid programs, policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for verifying the federal financial aid application data for selected FAFSA applicants and for exercising independent professional judgment regarding needed adjustments to a student's financial aid eligibility.
Examples of Duties
- Provides advice, counseling, clarification and technical assistance to students and their parents regarding Federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, policies and procedures. This involves handling an appointment load (and seeing walk-in customers) 15-20 hours per week.
- Calculates applicant eligibility for federal and state financial aid programs, performs technical data analysis and verification and exercises independent professional decision-making in the initial awarding of aid, award.
