FWSP Student Clerical Worker - CETTL

Position Overview

This is a Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) student clerical position with the Center for Excellence in Transformative Teaching & Learning (CETTL) in which the student will perform computer and customer service-related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include but are not limited to typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, scheduling appointments, and Microsoft Office experience.

Hours per Week

Average of 10 hours per week.

College/Department Overview

The Center for Excellence in Transformative Teaching & Learning (CETTL) collaborates with other campus units and individuals to offer programs, services, and resources to encourage, enhance, and support faculty in helping students learn. CETTL provides support for and promotes deep, transformative learning experiences for all students at UCO. CETTL is comprised of four major programs: the 21st Century Pedagogy Institute (21CPI, faculty development), Educator's Leadership Academy (ELA, training for educational professionals), the Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR), and the annual Transformative Learning Conference.

Department Specific Job Functions

This student position will support the operations of CETTL in many ways:

• Provide logistical assistance for CETTL events and activities, including:
  • Creating signage and nametags
  • Organizing and moving materials/equipment
  • Assisting with the creation, editing, and distribution of event programs and other related materials
  • Working with vendors to accept delivery of food and materials
  • Maintaining and updating registration lists for event attendee tracking
  • Etc.
• Complete basic data-entry tasks
• Create and maintain inventories of office supplies and program-specific products.
• Label, inventory, and track inflow/outflow of learning materials utilized for CETTL professional development events (e.g., distribution of books for reading groups).
• Other duties as assigned.

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. FWSP Requirements

In order to be considered for the Federal Work Study Program (FWSP), you must be awarded work study through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, and you must accept your FWSP award in UConnect. Please be aware, the summer FWSP award is a separate application process and not included in the FWSP award for fall/spring.

Enrollment requirements for FWSP employment are the same each semester. Undergraduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours, and Graduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit hours. If a student is enrolled in their final semester and the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of remaining credit hours needed to graduate and the anticipated graduation date) and provide the letter to the hiring department for submission to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Preferred

• Familiarity with and moderate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office 365 products, i.e., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. (Adobe product knowledge is also appreciated).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
