Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Social Work Therapist with expertise in brief therapy to provide short-term, focused therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups. There is also opportunity to include some longer term therapy in this role. This role will involve assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based brief therapeutic techniques to help clients manage immediate concerns and achieve measurable progress. The ideal candidate will be adept at working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while delivering high-quality therapeutic care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Initial Assessments: Complete comprehensive assessments to identify clients' emotional, psychological, and social needs.
  • Provide Brief Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver focused, time-limited therapy sessions to individuals, couples, and families using evidence-based brief therapeutic models. There is opportunity for some longer term therapy as well.
  • Develop Treatment Plans: Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment goals and create action plans to address their immediate concerns and challenges.
  • Monitor Progress and Adjust Treatment: Regularly review client progress toward treatment goals and adjust interventions as necessary to ensure the effectiveness of therapy.
  • Provide Crisis Intervention: Assess and address any immediate crisis situations, providing appropriate interventions and referrals as necessary.
  • Document and Maintain Client Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions, treatment plans, and client progress in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with Other Professionals: Work in coordination with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists and medical staff, to ensure holistic care for clients.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Adhere to confidentiality standards, ensuring that all client information is protected in compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
  • Full-time positions manage a caseload of up to 30 patients per week.
  • Review, analyze, interpret, and/or prepare federal and state laws, rules, regulations, Code of Ethics, policies and procedures as related to clinical social work.
  • Participate in clinical and administrative staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Conducts clinical diagnostic evaluation and assessment of patients, including urgent-care/crisis evaluations.
  • Provides goal-focused, evidence-based, time-limited individual, and group psychotherapy.
  • Maintains timely and complete electronic documentation as appropriate.
  • Exercises discretion and confidentiality while handling sensitive situations.
  • Reviews, analyzes, interprets, and/or prepares federal and state laws, rules, regulations, Code of Ethics, policies and procedures as related to clinical social work.
  • Provides clinical supervision of trainees as needed and as appropriate.
  • Interprets, monitors, and record client progress according to measurable goals described in treatment and care plan.
  • Has moderate level of authority to refer patient, client, or family to community resources to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness and to provide access to services such as financial assistance, legal aid, housing, job placement or education.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Certifications

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • Working for a large complex healthcare organization.
  • Experience in a fast-paced outpatient, community, or clinical setting.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.

Licenses And Certifications

  • LSW or LCSW Illinois licensure or license eligible.
  • LCSW preferred.

Technical Skills Or Knowledge

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, code of ethics, policies, and procedures as related to social work.

Preferred Competencies

  • Proficiency in brief therapeutic approaches such evidence-based modalities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clients and build trust quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and ethical practices.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation.
  • Knowledge of diverse populations and cultural competence in delivering therapy.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, Code of Ethics, policies, and procedures as related to social work

The included pay rate or range represents the University’s good faith estimate of the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of posting.
