Structure

The Assistant Director, Events is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and reports to the Executive Director of Donor Experience and Events.

Focus

The Assistant Director, Events is responsible for planning, implementation, and strategically assessing events in support of the UC Foundation donor stewardship and fundraising initiatives. The Assistant Director supports the Donor Experience and Events Team and their partners in their development of meaningful experiences and engagement to advance the philanthropic goals of UC and UC Health.

Specific Duties

  • Plan, implement, and strategically assess events that support UC and UC Health donor stewardship and fundraising initiatives.
  • Serve as internal resource for inquiries and requests related to events and experiences.
  • Partner with college/unit development officers in support of their philanthropic event initiatives.
  • Form strong working relationships with important internal and external partners related to implementing events.
  • Work collaboratively with partners to create consistent, best-in-class donor experience for events.
  • Manage event budgets including check requests, purchase orders, and post-event reconciliations.
  • Manage event registrations and any correspondence related to invitations or registrations including management of guests lists, registrations, name badges, and attendance tracking.
  • Oversee day of timeline creation and completion including management of set-up for events including registration area, ensuring all event supplies are onsite to create a seamless process for event attendees.
  • Conducts and analyzes post-event evaluations to assess successes and identify opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Provide operational support to the Stewardship and Donor Experience Team.
  • As a member of the Stewardship and Donor Experience Team, assist with the implementation of central recognition programs and experiences, ensuring these activities meaningfully engage assigned units, and other collaborative projects.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of professional experience in event planning, donor relations, higher education, or transferable related experience with an undergraduate degree.
  • Able to work non-traditional, flexible hours, as needed for events, including evenings, weekends and travel when needed. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required for travel.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills: ability to plan, coordinate, and execute events efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: ability to interact professionally with donors, event attendees, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team: ability to take initiative and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Experience with databases and data management.
  • Discretion and diplomacy, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and meet multiple competing deadlines.

What We Offer

The anticipated starting salary range for the Assistant Director, Events role is $50,000-$55,000 annually. When determining the final offer amount the UC Foundation considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.

This position is considered to have medium work. Exerting up to 50lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. This position requires the operation of a motor vehicle. This position also requires:

All offers of full-time employment are contingent upon passing a criminal background check and drug test. Positions requiring a degree are also contingent upon education verification.
