Structure
Assistant Vice President for Gift Administration is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UC Foundation) and reports to the Vice President for Development.
Focus
The Assistant Vice President for Gift Administration is responsible for the management and execution of the life income gifts program, estate administration, stock transfers and gift acceptance for specified gifts. This position works collaboratively with College and Unit based development officers, outside legal and financial advisors, and donors to ensure a robust and successful gift planning program across the University.
Specific Duties
- Lead and oversee the life income gifts program; including serving as the primary point of contact for life income gift-management services; developing marketing materials utilizing a variety of media and formats for targeted efforts; and collaborating with the Assistant Vice President for Gift Planning on drafting trust documents and annuity contracts, and the management of charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
- Manage trust and estate administration, ensuring on-time distributions and fulfillment of pledge commitments.
- Administer the stock transfer process in partnership with the finance team, assisting the donor throughout the process.
- Shall act as primary legal liaison with university and foundation leadership and counsel regarding the administration of philanthropic gift activity, policy, and contracts.
- Participate in maintaining stewardship relationships with donors through the development and effective oversight of completed gifts, regulations and other requirements as may be necessary.
- Advise on complex gifts in conjunction with gift planning leadership.
- Evaluate and oversee applicable vendor relationships, making recommendations for enhancements or changes, as needed.
- Lead and complete special projects as assigned by the Vice President for Development.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) with 7 years of experience, specifically creating, reviewing, and editing philanthropic gift agreements and familiarity with various gift vehicles such as real estate, private stock, gifts-in-kind, equipment, art and collectibles, and assets.
- Demonstrated effective client/donor relationship building.
- The position requires a thorough knowledge of charitable gift planning, and federal regulations that impact the process of charitable gift planning.
- Excellent communications skills, including the ability to write and speak with precision and clarity about gift planning subjects and the ability to adjust language and tone to fit the audience.
- Demonstrated exercise of independent judgment, serious attention to detail and thoughtful interaction with donors and prospects.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of high-level clients/donors with a high degree of personalized/custom relationship interaction and support.
- Evidence of a commitment to the philanthropic support of higher education.
What We Offer
The anticipated starting salary range for the Assistant Vice President for Gift Administration role is $145,000-$160,000 annually. When determining the final offer amount the UC Foundation considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
