Job Summary :

Key Responsibilities :

  • Independently master study materials, including but not limited to protocols, informed consent forms, and all other essential study documents for assigned studies
  • Independently perform study related processes, procedures, and assessments as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulating bodies
  • Assist Team Leads, Supervisors and / or management with creation and implementation of processes and procedures and quality improvement initiatives
  • Act as a Primary Coordinator on multiple trials / studies
  • Assist and train junior team members
  • Assist with developing or develops protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Case Report Forms (CRFs). Maintains subject level documentation and prepares documents, equipment and / or supplies
  • Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and shares results with leadership
  • Collect information to determine feasibility, recruitment and retention strategies. Employ, evaluate and assist with the implementation of innovative solutions to maximize recruitment and retention
  • Serve as a resource and participate in study initiation and close out duties
  • Lead the development and implementation of training programs to enhance faculty and staff competency in research methodologies and grant development
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of institutional research policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations and best practices
  • Assist in developing and maintaining research partnerships with VA, academic institutions, and healthcare organizations to support high-impact research initiatives.
  • Subject Matter Expert and authority in the area(s) of mentoring faculty and research assistants in research operations. This includes providing guidance on study design, data management, regulatory compliance, and grant administration. The candidate will leverage their expertise to support the development of independent research programs, optimize research workflows, and ensure adherence to best practices. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for fostering a culture of research excellence and continuous professional growth.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and authority in the area(s) of grant development, providing strategic guidance to faculty on securing external funding. This includes identifying funding opportunities, ensuring alignment with agency priorities, developing competitive proposals, helping prepare budgets, and responding to reviewer feedback. The candidate will mentor researchers in navigating the grant process, optimizing proposal success, and sustaining research programs. Strong analytical, strategic planning, and mentoring skills are essential for fostering a culture of research excellence and funding success.

Work Location :

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

    Qualifications :

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Three (3) years clinical research or related experience
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a health-related field such as rehabilitation sciences, exercise science, or health services research
  • Six years of experience in clinical research, with a focus on rehabilitation, implementation science, or health services research
  • Demonstrated expertise in mentoring faculty and research assistants in research operations, including study design, data management, regulatory compliance, and grant administration.
  • Experience leading or contributing to large-scale research initiatives involving interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating contributions to the field of rehabilitation or health services research.
  • Strong background in grant development, including proposal writing, budget preparation, and responding to reviewer feedback.
  • Proven experience securing external funding, particularly from federal agencies such as NIH and VA
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

    Anticipated Pay Range :

    The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as

    64,594-$82,164 for a 1.0 FTE and is pro-rated to $12,919-$16,432 for a .2FTE

  • The position will start at 0.2FTE and increase to 1.0FTE in the future
  • The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
