The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit a dynamic leader to expand the clinical and research programs within our Epilepsy Section. Appointment for the Epilepsy Section Director will be at the level of Associate or Full Professor depending on qualifications. Job Responsibilities The duties in this faculty position will include clinical, teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject to the determination of the Department Chair. Clinical duties may include responsibilities at the faculty-level for outpatient clinics, continuous EEG monitoring, and attending in the EMUs. While on service, obligations will include supervision of medical students, residents, and some fellows, supervision of patient procedures, and teaching of the house-staff as well as students. Teaching activities including attending neurology services, leading teaching conferences and training medical students, residents, and fellows. It is anticipated that the candidate will have an active research interest that can include clinical research or basic research related to the field of epilepsy and will be able to help the section expand its research activities both through their own work and in mentoring and fostering the development of other section members. Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected. Other duties may be assigned as need arises. This faculty position is in the Epilepsy Section, which currently has 11 Epileptologists, 7 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and 1 Fellow (ACGME accredited), making it one of the largest sections in the Department of Neurology. The Epilepsy Section's clinical activities include outpatient clinics, a continuous EEG monitoring service, and an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). Epileptologists work closely with members of the Department of Neurosurgery in an active epilepsy surgery program. The outpatient clinics currently include both general epilepsy outpatient clinic as well as several multidisciplinary clinics at UCH including the Epilepsy pregnancy clinic, Tuberous Sclerosis clinic, Non-Epileptic Seizure clinic, Neuro-feedback clinic, Diet clinic, Neuro-modulation clinic, Pre-surgery clinic, Surgery clinic, and Tele-epilepsy. The Epileptologists and Epilepsy APPs rotate through and are responsible for staffing the EMU and inpatient continuous EEG monitoring service (cEEG). The UCH EMU is a National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) level 4 unit. The section has an ACGME accredited epilepsy fellowship, which accepts up to 2 fellows per year and plays a key role in resident and medical student education. The Department of Neurology has large basic science and clinical research programs, and candidates are expected to develop and maintain a personal research program and to develop and expand existing research in the section. The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Associate Professor- $200,000 - $260,000 Professor - $250,000 - $300,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
