Professional Research Assistant

Job Summary:

The Mallela Lab is looking for a full-time (100% time), salaried Professional Research Assistant (PRA) with skills in flow cytometry, mammalian cell cultures, spectroscopic techniques to characterize proteins, ELISA, Western blots, and general laboratory/biochemistry procedures. Knowledge of immunology would be beneficial. This position currently has guaranteed funding for one year, with the possibility of an extension depending on funding availability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Express proteins in mammalian cell cultures
• Determining protein-protein interactions using flow cytometry and yeast 2-hybrid assays
• Characterizing proteins using circular dichroism, fluorescence, dynamic light scattering, and other techniques
• Deep mutational scanning of protein structure and function
• Assist with laboratory organization and ordering procedures
• Assist other researchers with cell culture and sample preparation

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysics or related discipline
• Experience with various analytical techniques mentioned above

Condition of Employment

• Must be willing and able to work occasional weekends to meet the deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysics or related discipline
• Strong background in experimental design, sample preparation, data collection, processing, and quantitative analysis using various techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in protein analytical techniques, spectroscopy, protein expression and purification.
• Proven track record in presenting research findings at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Prior experience working in teams on collaborative projects is desirable.
• Meeting the project deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• A highly motivated self-starter who is able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of experimental design and basic science techniques including safety procedures.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and work independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with lab members.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

The annualized salary range for this position is $48,410 - $52,000, depending on qualifications and experience level.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
