The Department of Athletics encourages applications for the Performance Nutrition Fellow for Football! The Performance Nutrition Fellow position provides sports nutrition programming to enhance the health and performance of elite football student-athletes competing for a highly competitive, Division I athletics program. Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Football Performance Nutrition with counseling football team members on daily nutrition for performance and health; translating the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations; tracking and documenting outcomes of nutrition services; serving as a food and nutrition resource for student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, athletics support staff, food service vendors/representatives, and parents; providing or assisting in sports nutrition education for maintaining and promoting health and wellness; athletic food service operations and, maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice, individual and team nutrition counseling and education.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA.
This is a 12-month limited term position not expected to last more than 12 months from start date.

Responsibilities
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Maintain consistent presence at football events throughout the week by attending team meals, practice, games, etc.
- Assist in providing group team education.
- Assist in providing 1:1 nutrition counseling, medical nutrition therapy, and sports nutrition education as needed.
- Work closely with coaching staff, athletic trainers, strength staff, and others in the athletic department on nutrition-related topics.
- Assist in the oversight football nutrition food service operations, including pre, intra, and post practice nutrition, and outside vendors for gameday.
- Assists in inventory management including distribution, receiving, stocking, and inventory.
- Primary oversight over football nutrition student interns including scheduling and daily task management.
- Assist in development of nutrition education in fueling hubs and fueling stations.
- Document performance nutrition services and metrics, including knowledge and training of electronic medical record.
- Ability to maintain HIPAA confidentiality and adhere to all department and university policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big 12 Conference and NCAA.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- The desired start date for this position is early June.
- The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Extended hours for practice and competitions/possible variable hours based on practices/competitions.
- Possible travel with the Football team.
- This is a limited term 12 month position.
- The starting salary for this position is $47,000.
- Relocation assistance is available within department guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree.
- Current Registered Dietitian or RD-Eligible, (ability to obtain RD within 60 days of hire).
- Experience with food handling.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift over 50lbs.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Master's Degree.
- Desire to work towards Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics certification.
