Job Summary

The Enrollment Management division at CU Boulder welcomes applications for a Senior Assistant Director for Colorado Recruitment! This position reports to the Associate Director of First-Year Recruitment in the Office of Admissions. It involves significant leadership and participation in the development and administration of admission policies and procedures and the management and coordination of admission-related programs and activities. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, contributing to the first-year team recruitment plan, planning and engaging in recruitment tactics, managing recruitment activities targeting prospective first-year undergraduates and managing, training and supervising admission counselors and/or regional admissions staff.

The Senior Assistant Director is responsible for representing the University of Colorado Boulder to various constituents including prospective students, family members, high school counselors, on-and-off campus partners and community leaders. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the development of a recruitment strategy in a designated territory. They will execute a wide range of off-campus recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, receptions and individual meetings. In addition to these off-campus activities, they will host and support on-campus programming including daily presentations and campus events overseen by the Virtual and On-Campus Programs team. This position will evaluate domestic first year applications.

This role will supervise in-state recruiters. This includes providing mentorship and leadership to staff, promoting and leading professional development activities, analyzing and reporting on statistical data related to specific demographics, and implementing appropriate action plans in response to such data.

The person in this position must be familiar with and observe professional ethics expectations including policies of the Office of Admissions and codes of conduct of professional organizations in which the university holds membership.

Responsibilities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Responsible for the management and assessment of outreach efforts associated with all domestic in-state recruitment and travel.
  • Manages, trains, supervises and evaluates university staff members. Participates in staff development activities such as University workshops, conferences and programs, and state and national professional organizations. Provides direct supervision of university staff members in the recruitment, evaluation and enrollment of students to the University. Supports staff with professional development opportunities.
  • Provides admission related information to prospective students from assigned territory by telephone, in office appointments and virtually. Participates in on-campus and off-campus admission recruitment programs.
  • Acts as lead liaison to the Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement (OPCOE). This individual will be the primary contact for OPCOE programming in collaboration with the Office of Admissions. The lead individual is expected to support the Senior Assistant Director of Application Review with precollege application Review Process. The collaboration of events with OPCOE include their annual Celebration, delegating college application workshops to First-Year Team collaborators and representing the Office of Admissions. Additionally, collaborate and meet with the Recruitment Team regularly to align recruitment strategies and share updates about OPCOE and admissions on campus.
  • Serves on admission committees in the admission decision process. Responsibilities include the interpretation and implementation of admission policies and procedures, the evaluation of applications and educational records and the rendering of admission decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $77,250 per year.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Minimum of two plus (2 ) years of progressively more responsible and independent higher education or admission related experience or equivalent.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to work well with high school and college age students as well as a variety of multi-cultural populations; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; strong public speaking skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently as well as with a team; and familiarity with computing. Extensive overnight, evening and weekend work is required. A passion for results and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team-focused and heavily performance driven environment are essential.
  • Due to the nature of this position, there will be non-traditional hours on select evenings and weekends.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Four (4) years of job-related experience, including supervision with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively more responsible and independent management experience in a college admission or other higher ed office.
  • Significant experience in managing programs and/or staff in a collegiate admissions office.
  • Relevant experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • The ability to network with constituents and to form lasting relationships with campus offices and organizations.
