The Student Employment Program Manager will help to establish student employment as a high impact practice that supports the experiential learning of CU Denver students. This position will serve in a student-facing capacity, supporting students through their engagement with the Student Employment Office. To support the engagement of CU Denver students, the Student Employment Program Manager establishes and communicates standard recruiting, hiring, onboarding procedures and practices for student employees. This position will also provide guidance, training, consultation and be a resource for department/unit business partners, supervisors, and employees. The position will provide procedure and process guidance on a wide variety of personnel issues with support from campus HR.
In order to support student engagement, the Student Employment Program Manager is also responsible for executing the processes required to hire, onboard, and pay student workers in the Strategic Enrollment and Student Success (SESS) Division. Additionally, the SE Program Manager provides management, leadership and expertise in the area of student employment, including the development and implementation of processes and procedures related to student employment for the campus in collaboration with SESS. To support a positive student experience, this position will oversee and manage hiring, payroll, leave entry/audits for designated departments.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $63,248 - $69,905.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Student Employment Program Manager
What you will do:
CU Denver Student Employment (approximately 50% of time)
- Support student engagement by championing student employment as a practice that supports students and business units across campus
- Represent the face of student employment to CU Denver students
- Function as a “one-stop-shop” for all issues, information, and guidance needed by students in their pursuit and performance of student employment on campus.
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop pathways to student employment and from student employment to professional staff.
- To support more consistent and effective student employment practices, the program manager will arrange, create, and provide ongoing trainings for units with student employees.
- Coordinate the maintenance of the student employee handbook in consultation with Campus HR, Financial Aid, and Career Services.
- Provide ongoing metrics reports to stakeholders and meet individually with them as needed.
- Apply knowledge of university and state regulations for records retention.
- Provide consultation for departments for recruitment and hiring needs for student employees job description creation, posting, support for search committees, hiring functions and on-boarding of new employees.
- Maintain knowledge of the HCM system, Handshake, and the CU-SIS Financial Aid system.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Support student engagement by acting as a primary contact for stakeholders seeking assistance hiring student employees.
- Process all student hires and employment separations for SESS.
- Process all payroll for SESS student hires.
- Consult and provide support for efficient and streamlined processes and procedures for departments requesting to hire a student employee.
- Develop and manage a consistent system for hiring, onboarding, performance management, handling student employee issues for SESS.2505
- Develop record keeping system to maintain new hire data for each department.
- Perform hiring actions, including onboarding and the completion of all required paperwork (I‐9’s, background checks, personnel data, etc.)
- Coordinate and evaluate work-study eligibility and track available funds in conjunction with campus partners who manage pieces of the work-study process.
- Monitor and report on the proportion of student hourly to work study opportunities. Escalate to SESS leadership when students who aren’t eligible for work study positions also don’t have on campus employment opportunities.
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources business, business administration, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences, communication or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- The position requires three (3) years of professional, progressively responsible experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualification To Possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Higher Education, Student Development, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience with student employment
- Experience working in PeopleSoft HCM
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.
- Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.
