At UConn Health this class is accountable for conducting religious services and ministering to pastoral needs of the patients, families, staff, and the UConn Health community. This position is located in Farmington, CT.
SCHEDULE: Part time, primarily Monday - Friday, 64 hours every two weeks and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate needs of the community and organization.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher grade.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Administers rites and sacraments
Consults with staff to provide effective pastoral care to patients, families and those who serve them
Participates in team meetings
Keeps records and writes reports
May speak to lay and professional groups
Participates in various educational programs
Assists in organizing and conducting seminars for community clergy
Performs related duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of interfaith spiritual care in the hospital setting
Interpersonal skills
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to perform the requirements of formal religious services
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: General Experience:
A master's degree relevant to the practice of chaplaincy conferred by a college or institution accredited by CHEA.
Four (4) Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), or through a BCCI approved CPE provider are accepted
Faith Group Endorsement or Recognition providing documentation of current endorsement or acceptable language in accordance with the applicant's spiritual/faith tradition
Board Certification as a chaplain, or eligible to become board certified within two (2) years.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Incumbents in this class may be exposed to communicable/infectious diseases and some disagreeable conditions
