UConn Health is looking for a highly skilled APRN with experience in acute healthcare. This position will work in the New England Sickle Cell Institute and the Hemophilia Treatment Center.

SCHEDULE: Full time 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 30 minute unpaid meal break
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of anatomy and physiology; knowledge of different disciplines and disease states; knowledge of medication and their interactions and reactions; physical assessment skills; counseling skills; considerable interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; skill in performing invasive procedures; ability to work independently; ability to work under pressure; ability to formulate plans of care; decision making ability.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Incumbents in this class must possess a valid license to practice in the State of Connecticut
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Two (2) years Nurse Practitioner experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hemophilia experience
Sickle Cell experience
1 year Primary Care Preovider experience
Outpatient clinic experience
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Administers treatments, performs physical examinations, and researches medical histories
Orders laboratory and diagnostic tests and interprets, prescribes, administers and dispenses medications and other treatments
Provides patient/family counseling and education
Maintains patient health information records
Coordinates treatment and makes appropriate referrals to other heath care providers as necessary and monitors patient outcomes.
Maintains safety, infection control and quality of care standards
Participates as a member of interdisciplinar team
Assists in the development of policy/procedures
Participates in or designs changes in the system of care delivery
Participates in clinical research and services in various program areas through teaching and education
Acts as a clinical consultant/resource to peers and other health care professionals within or outside of the institution
FULL TIME MINIMUM EQUIVALENT SALARY: $116,750 - additional based on experience
