Position Summary

The Department of Management Information Systems, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Business Analytics is searching for a non-tenure track position as Faculty of Practice specializing in Business Analytics / Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSC) to begin August 16, 2025. The Department offers undergraduate majors and minors in MIS, Business Analytics, and Operations and Supply Management (OSC), a Masters in Business Analytics, and supports the MBA program. The faculty are well known for their research, teaching, and professional service. The position offers an opportunity to be a part of a department where we stress collegiality, solutions to contemporary corporate issues, scholarship, excellence in teaching, and maintaining close ties between faculty members, students, and the business community.

The Position

The position entails teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, limited research, and service to the community, university, and profession.

In the Faculty of Practice role, the successful candidate will be expected to remain active in the profession through consulting activities and/or industry collaborations that relate well to the scholarship of teaching and learning in related fields. Additionally, the successful candidate will be eligible for promotion under the recently adopted promotion policy for Faculty of Practice.

The Department

The Department faculty are well known for their research, teaching, and professional service. Specifically, faculty have published numerous articles in major academic journals, served in editorial positions of leading academic journals, as officers in major professional organizations, and are recognized across campus for their leadership. MOA offers undergraduate majors in Management Information Systems, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Business Analytics. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Business Analytics and supports the MBA program with a variety of courses. Additionally, the department offers undergraduate minors in Business Analytics, Cyber-Security Management, MIS, and OSC. The Department is responsible for supporting all business undergraduates and MBA students with courses in MIS, OSC, and Business Analytics. All degree programs offered by the department feature an applied capstone course in which students work with businesses and organizations to develop and implement a solution to a current and meaningful problem.

MOA graduates are typically very well placed in the job market and are the highest paid graduates from comparable Ohio programs. The newly launched Business Analytics programs, both undergraduate and graduate, are highly sought after and are on a growth trajectory. Each program is partnered with an advisory board of business leaders that assist the program in various ways.

School of Business Administration

The School of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International. It offers nine undergraduate majors through four academic departments, as well as an MBA and several specialized master’s degree programs. The school includes several centers of excellence, including the Business Research Group, Crotty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Davis Center for Portfolio Management, Hanley Trading Center, Fiore Talarico Center for Professional Selling, Center for the Integration of Faith and Work, and Center for Project Excellence. A business advisory council, consisting of senior executives from across the U.S., advises the dean on planning and development issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline;
  • Promise of excellence in incorporating industry standards and practices into the classroom.
  • Capability to teach in an academic setting or experience in corporate training/teaching.
  • Effective written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

  • Completed PhD by the start of the contract
  • Successful experience in any or all of the following:
    • teaching/training in one or more areas of operations management, supply chain management, or business analytics.
    • teaching/training a range of topics within the operations and supply chain management disciplines.
    • leadership in a professional role
    • teaching/training students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • working with socially and culturally diverse communities
    • alternative teaching techniques e.g., successful experience with experiential and active learning strategies to foster and maintain student engagement, successful use of learning resources, including technology and/or active learning strategies.
    • collaborating with students and other constituents within a department and across campus e.g., faculty, staff, administration, or in a professional setting.
    • fostering domestic and/or international partnerships in industry and/or academia,
    • developing curricula, courses and/or lab activities,
    • developing and sustaining partnerships between higher education and industry related to business analytics, especially including supplementing the classroom learning environment with direct industry input,
    • participating in industrial communities and professional societies,
    • working in the industry for 8 or more years
  • A strong potential for publishing in leading and high-quality academic journals.
  • On-going stream of contributions to intellectual leadership in an area of expertise and as evidenced by articles already published or under review
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skill
  • Able to articulate an understanding of and concurrence with the value placed by the University on theory-to-practice, practical wisdom, and service to the community
  • Effective classroom management skills
