The Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) is responsible for the authorization, administration, and maintenance of classified information systems (IS) and networks at various clearance levels. Responsibilities include :
- Ensure ISs are properly authorized and meeting confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements established by the government
- Enforce security policies and safeguards pertaining to the IS
- Assist with the design and implementation of contractor and government managed classified networks
- Conduct periodic reviews of ISs to ensure consistency with the authorization package
- Provide training and support to IS users
- Perform required configuration, audits, backups, and other maintenance and monitoring actions
- Draft System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms), and Security Control Traceability Matrixes (SCTMs), as required
- Identify system vulnerabilities and develop appropriate countermeasures
- Maintain documentation of security requirements, procedures, standards, and controls
- Perform spill mitigation and provide reports
- Conduct continuous monitoring activities and implement improvements
- Attend required technical and security training (e.g., operating system, networking, security management, etc.) relative to assigned duties
- Coordinate with system stakeholders and customers on system functionality and vulnerability management
- Participate in system and organization security reviews and inspections
- Serve as an alternate / primary COMSEC custodian
- Assist in the creation and management of SOPs and EAPs, as appropriate
- Assist with information security tasks for the organization, as needed
- Assist with other security related tasks, as required, to support the Office for Research Security
