UDRI seeks candidates experienced in experimental methods, modeling, simulation and analysis of sensor data to support basic and applied research in materials characterization and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) at the University of Dayton, Dayton OH. The researcher will be supporting single- and multi-physics research to develop new sensing approaches along with modeling and simulations that are used to develop new and improve existing methods. The research goals are to perform and improve characterization of aerospace materials including metallic, ceramic, polymer and carbon matrix composites, by merging or adapting NDE modalities that include ultrasonics, electrical impedance tomography, electromagnetic, and / or thermographic methods.
Minimum Qualifications :
R2 Minimum Qualifications :
- Master's degree in physics, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience.
- Experience with nondestructive inspection experimental methods.
- Experience with modeling composite material response or material signal interactions using finite element, analytical or numerical approaches.
- Experience with scientific data analysis programming languages such as or Python.
- Experience with laboratory equipment including lock-in amplifiers, oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interest and ability to communicate and interact with multidisciplinary scientists.
- Willingness to publish research results in peer reviewed journals and present research at conferences, informal internal meetings, etc.
- Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.
