Context of the Job :
Within the Joseph R. Biden Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration, The Center for Historic Architecture and Design (CHAD) helps communities preserve their heritage in the face of rapid development and change. CHAD ensures that preservation and historic resources are part of planning and policy development at local, state, national, and international levels. CHAD excels at research and documentation of historic properties and traditional technologies; National Register nominations; and cultural resource surveys that contribute to creation of historic districts, heritage tourism, and similar efforts.In consultation with the Communications Director for the Biden School, the Born Digital Archivist takes a leading role in an NEH-funded project to process and make publicly accessible CHADs collection of born-digital documentation of historic properties including photographs and AutoCAD-produced architectural drawings; process related physical materials from field work and research; and generate a collection-level finding aid to index the materials and help users navigate the collection.
Please note : This is a Grant funded role currently funded through 11 / 26.
Responsibilities :
- Develop the born-digital archives program at CHAD by creating workflows, policies, and training modules, with the goal of efficiently and responsibly stewarding all born-digital archival content.
- Process born-digital and related analog and hybrid collections held by CHAD Work closely with colleagues in the University of Delaware Library and in Information Technology, as well as with historic preservation professionals in CHAD Develop a born-digital processing program, from acquisition to access, establishing policies, workflows, and manuals to process specific media types, and for hardware and software.
- Develop training modules and train all students assisting in the program, as well as ensure sustainability of the program by training historic preservation professionals in CHAD for future workflows to take their materials from fieldwork to public access
- Write social media content to promote the collections and raise awareness about the digitization and public access efforts Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
