What are the responsibilities and job description for the UDairy Creamery Cafe Assistant position at University of Delaware?
The UDairy Creamery Café is an entity of the UDairy Creamery and the University of Delaware’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Located at 83 East Main Street, Newark inside the Barnes & Noble Bookstore, the UDairy Cafe operates year-round, closing between December 24th and January 1st.
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position not to exceed 29.5 hours per week. Position schedule is Monday through Friday; shift hours may vary to align with business needs. Pay will be commensurate with experience.
CONTEXT OF JOB:
Under the general direction of the UDairy Creamery Café Manager, the Cafe Assistant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the UDairy Café by setting up the Café, preparing menu items for sale, engaging with and assisting the campus community in relation to UDairy products and Café operations, working closely with and supporting student employees, as well as producing, executing and delivering catering orders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of food service and/or retail experience; supervisory or leadership role preferred.
- Must be able to work unsupervised.
- Must have food handling or culinary experience.
- Must be ServSafe Food Handler certified or able to take course immediately upon hire.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * * Prepare food items, hot and cold, in a safe and consistent manner
- Follow standard cleaning and sanitizing procedures and safe food handling
- Prepare, execute and deliver catering orders on and off campus
- Serve customers in a friendly, respectful and expedient manner
- Help train and support student employees
- Inventory paper and food items for ordering purposes
- Assist with creating new menu items and menu schedules for the Café
- Work at the Flagship location and assist with deliveries, ice cream production and other associated tasks, as needed.
