Position Summary
1. To assist with maintaining collection.
2. To provide information to patrons & to assist them with using library records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Administrative Duties
- Create circulation desk coverage schedule.
- Assist in supervising part-time library technicians who work in circulation.
- Responsible for Interlibrary Loans.
2. Circulation Duties:
- Provide customer service by assisting patrons at the information desk.
- Assist with daily operations of library circulation services including handling library materials.
- Ensures that patron information is correct and current in the ILS.
- Answers directional, informational, policy, and procedure questions by telephone or in person.
- Handles monetary transactions.
- Order supplies.
- Assist with opening and/or closing the library.
- Responsible for processing of mail for the law library
3. Collection Maintenance:
- Generate collection reports.
- Maintain Course Reserves and Reserves collections.
- Prepare shelving carts.
- Work on special interdepartmental projects.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Education - A college degree or four to eight years of work experience in a related field.
- Experience - Six months to two years (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be a good communicator, well-spoken, and calm. Must be a team player with a willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
