Job Description:

Assist in the management, oversight, and direction for support services for registered student organizations and student organization advisors.

• Provide supervision, training, and support for a Program Coordinator, Graduate Assistant and student assistants who aid in the operation of the day-to-day functions of the department; review schedules to ensure it is congruent with budget projections for student staff salaries.
• Assist Associate Director of SOAR and Director of Community & Belonging in establishing priorities and developing of strategic goals relevant to the area; providing general direction and leadership for goal accomplishment.
• Manage the coordination, education and processing of student organization event permits, risk management and on-site event management for student organization events and campus activities, catering scholarships, etc.
• Assist and manage the coordination and implementation of the student organization registration process for returning and/or new student organizations.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with other UF departments, including but not limited to Event Services, University Police Department, Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, UF departments and other campus venue managers.
• Assist in coordination and implementation of the student organization data management system and registration process through Gator Connect.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive training program (may include workshops, conferences, and individual consultations) for student leaders/programmers and advisors including but not limited to leadership skills, programming skills, budgeting, setting goals and learning outcomes, risk management, recognition activities, and program evaluation.
• Interpret university policies for students, student organizations, and campus partners related to co-curricular involvement at the university.
• Coordinate administrative programs for registered student organizations such as scholarships, officer training, officer eligibility, space allocations, and other administrative programs.
• Lead the development of research and assessments for various programs and services of the Office of Community & Belonging and Student Engagement such as programming needs assessment, effectiveness of programs and services including outcomes assessment and student satisfaction.

Serve as a resource and provide general assistance to student leaders and advisors on various issues affecting student organizations and events at the University of Florida.

• Responsible for the oversight and advising of Community & Belonging sponsored student group(s), in the programming, fiscal management, contracts, risk management, promotion, production and training of student membership and volunteers. Includes but not limited to student organization fairs, individual involvement consultations, outreach, campus, and recognition initiatives, etc.,
• Advise, assist and train student leaders and organization advisors on issues and policies affecting student organizations and various aspects of organization and event operations including but not limited to: use of university facilities, organization registration, developing and interpreting the organization’s constitution, event planning and management, budgeting and fiscal management, venue, artist, and contracting resources/process, safety, liability and risk management, crisis management, and resolving conflict.
• Assist in developing and implementing student organization/advisor recognition programs.
• Develop, maintain, and disseminate up-to-date educational resources for student organizations and student leaders.
• Serve as advisor and provide oversight for specific student organizations as assigned.
• Encourage and support co-sponsorship initiatives between organizations.

Assist with the administrative functions of Student Engagement and the Office of Community and Belonging.

• Serve as liaison to Risk Management unit developing ways to mitigate risk and liability; assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and training that mitigate risk and liability for department related activities.
• Assist in the promotion and marketing of department mission, events and activities.
• Assist in the coordination and management of the time management database system to approve, edit, and audit time punches for each student assistant.
• Advise and assist the department in strategic planning and in meeting the service and educational objectives of the unit.
• Assist with budget planning and reporting; maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure proper procedures, controls, and financial guidelines are all areas including organization expenditures.
• Stay abreast of key issues involving students and student organizations, make recommendations for solutions or strategies to address issues as appropriate; communicate issues and recommendations to senior staff in a timely manner.

Lead and participate in university/divisional initiatives and committees as assigned (examples include: dean on call, event support team, student conduct committee, student welcome events, etc.) Develop reports, handle special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$58,000 to $60,000 Annual Salary

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization with four (4) years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A masters degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a comparable field

Demonstrated ability to advise students and work with student organizations/event planning at the college or university level.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in event management, planning, risk assessment, and similar areas of expertise.

Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Demonstrated experience working with multiple university stakeholders and campus partners.

Demonstrated proficient planning, organization, and communication skills (verbal and written).

Demonstrate ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in marketing, promotions, and systems/project management.

Demonstrated proficiency with computers, basic software applications, and website content management systems.
