Job Description: The University of Florida Health (UF Health) Pediatric Neurology division is seeking a board-certified/ board-eligible Pediatric Neurologist with specialized training and expertise in movement disorders. This faculty position offers an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in clinical care, research, and education in pediatric movement disorders. This is a non-tenure accruing position. Rank will be assigned based on qualifications and experience. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive clinical care to pediatric patients with movement disorders, including dystonia, chorea, ataxia, tremors, tics, and other hyperkinetic or hypokinetic disorders.
  • Develop and lead specialized movement disorder clinics and programs, including those involving deep brain stimulation (DBS), botulinum toxin injections, and other advanced therapies.
  • Collaborate with neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, genetics, and other specialties to provide multidisciplinary care.
  • Engage in clinical research, including investigator-initiated and collaborative studies in movement disorders.
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows within the Department of Pediatrics and Neurology.
  • Contribute to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and community outreach efforts.
  • Maintain an active role in professional organizations related to movement disorders and pediatric neurology.

UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital provides care for the children of Florida and is a major destination center for pediatric patients, both nationally and internationally, who require specialized attention for complex medical problems.

UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital represents the only quaternary-care academic pediatric center in North Florida. The children’s hospital has 208 beds, including fully-equipped pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is part of the Children's Miracle Network's alliance of premier hospitals for children.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering innovation and advancing discovery in the biomedical and psychosocial aspects of child health and human development, educating and training pediatric scientists, and directly translating basic scientific discoveries into new patient-oriented therapies. In the most recent fiscal year, the department was home to over $30.5M in sponsored research.

UF Health faculty work in multidisciplinary teams with researchers in the five other Health Science Center colleges, as well as those from across the University. The focus of team efforts is often grown out of the Centers and Institutes, including the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute, the UF Genetics Institute, the Powell Gene Therapy Center, and the UF Health Cancer Center.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified/board-eligible in Pediatric Neurology.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Florida.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Movement Disorders preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, research, and teaching.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to patient-centered care.
