Overview
The SLP Clinical Fellow examines and evaluates patients, developing effective treatment plans appropriate for the patient condition. The SLP Fellow measures patient progress, modifies treatment plans, educates the patient and communicates well with the interdisciplinary team to produce optimal outcomes. All activities performed by the SLP Clinical Fellow will be monitored, directly and indirectly, by a Speech Language Pathologist employed by the hospital, as required by the Provisional Employment Experience requirement.
The Haley Brain Wellness Program is an interdisciplinary treatment program for military veterans and first responders experiencing persistent health issues associated with mild to moderate traumatic brain injuries, along with associated behavioral health issues, such as post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression and substance use disorder. The program includes a full diagnostic assessment, plus a three-week intensive on-site treatment (five days a week) using a wide spectrum of traditional and supportive therapies. Qualifications
Required Education:Master's degreeNecessary Skills:1. Knowledge of Speech Therapy theory, procedures, practices and equipment. 2. Good communication skills. Proactive, positive approach to problem solving.3. Thorough knowledge of possible hazards/necessary precautions/remedial measures in the treatment and care of patients. 4. Ability to assess and implement a treatment programs for simple and complex therapy diagnoses. 5. Computer skills in Microsoft Office suite.Required Licensure/Certifications:Florida license: Speech Language Pathologist provisional licenseBLS from the American Heart Association or American Red CrossRequired Experience:Less than one year clinical experience, experience obtained in clinical rotations appliesPreferred Experience:Acute care experience preferred. Experience with video swallow studies, speaking valve, and voice prosthesis is preferred.Age of Patients Served:All Age Groups
